Researcher Marta Ramon Krauel graduated in Medicine in 1999 at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona; obtained the title of specialist in Pediatrics at Hospital Sant Joan de Déu Barcelona in 2003, the title of specialist in Pediatrics at the Children's Hospital of Boston-Harvard Medical School in 2006, and the title of subspecialist in Pediatric Endocrinology at the Children's Hospital of Boston-Harvard Medical School in 2009. She holds a Doctorate in Medicine from the University of Barcelona.
She is currently the Head of the Pediatric Endocrinology Service at Sant Joan de Déu Hospital in Barcelona, President of the Spanish Society of Pediatric Endocrinology (SEEP) and Associate Professor in the Medicine degree at the University of Barcelona.
He has developed his field of clinical and scientific interest in childhood obesity, and in minority forms of obesity. She is currently the head of the Obesity Unit at Hospital Sant Joan de Déu. It belongs to the research group on metabolic diseases of fetal origin (SGR 845) where it actively participates in research R+D+I projects funded in competitive calls from public and private administrations or entities. He has directed doctoral theses on Prader Willi (a minority form of syndromic obesity) and diabetes.

Research into treatments to combat obesity and excessive sleepiness in children with Prader-Willi syndrome

Supplementing the maternal diet with betaine during lactation may reduce the risk of childhood obesity
Decreased levels of betaine in breast milk are associated with accelerated growth in babies during the first few months of life, a risk factor for childhood obesity. Study led by a research team from the Institut de Recerca Sant Joan de Déu and SJD Barcelona Children’s Hospital, published in the scientific journal Science Translational Medicine.
